Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

1. Scope

This policy explains how the operator of Lintel ("Lintel", "we", "us") handles personal information. It applies to visitors to lintel.legal, to prospective and current customers (lawyers and law firms), and, for any paid file services agreed in writing, to personal information contained in the files our customers ask us to work on. The operator is being incorporated. When the corporation is established, we will provide updated entity details and an updated policy.

Current and future practices. Today, Lintel operates a marketing website, an early-access request form and email enquiries, using Cloudflare and MXroute. We are not currently processing client files, searches or voice calls through the website. Sections below on file information and file-related providers describe practices that would apply only under a separate written service agreement.

2. Our role

For information about our own website visitors and customers, we decide how the information is used.

For information about a customer's clients and other third parties that would appear in a file under a written service agreement, we would act as a service provider on the customer's instructions. The customer, as the law firm, is responsible for its own privacy obligations, including notices to its clients and having consent or lawful authority to share the information with us. Our Terms of Use set out these responsibilities.

Personal information is handled under the privacy laws that apply to us, which may include the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Ontario and Canadian law.

3. What we collect

Early-access requests. The early-access form is for professional enquiries and is separate from any future paid client-file work. It asks for your name, work email address and jurisdiction (required), and, optionally, your firm and approximate monthly files. Please do not use it to send client or matter details, documents or payment information; it has no upload, free-text matter field or payment step. Submitting a request is not a service order and does not promise access or an activation date. We do not send an automatic reply to applicants, and we do not add you to a newsletter automatically.

When you submit the form, your browser sends the request over HTTPS to a Cloudflare Worker. The server checks the Cloudflare Turnstile token (including its hostname and action) with Cloudflare's Siteverify service; we do not send your IP address as an extra parameter in that check. Cloudflare then sends one fixed-format notification email from notifications@lintel.legal to hello@lintel.legal. MXroute handles delivery of the hello@ mailbox and forwards the message to the inbox of the operator's owner. The form application has no submission database or other storage and does not log the values you enter. The notification email and website analytics (section 4) are separate records; analytics may capture interactions with the form as described there.

4. Website analytics and cookies

We do not use advertising cookies or advertising trackers. We use two analytics tools:

We use this data to understand how the site is used and to improve it. The website is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the site.

5. How we use information

We do not sell personal information. For any future paid-service arrangement, we require that customer file information not be used to train general AI models, and that service providers be bound to confidentiality and appropriate protection.

6. Service providers

Today, we use Cloudflare for website delivery, analytics, the early-access form (including Turnstile verification) and outbound notification email, MXroute for email delivery and forwarding, and our own hosting for Rybbit analytics. For future paid file services under a written service agreement, we may use providers in these categories:

We would share information with them only as needed for the services, and we would require them to protect it. Some providers may process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Information processed in another country is subject to that country's laws, and its courts and authorities may be able to obtain access to it. We will describe file-specific providers in the service agreement or an updated policy before they handle file information.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to a successor to our business, subject to confidentiality.

7. Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards that suit the sensitivity of the information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Retention

We keep website analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it and keep it secure. We keep contact details and email enquiries, including early-access request notifications held in email, to consider and respond to your request, and to keep a record of our communications. These are handled separately from any future file information. For future paid file work, retention of file information will be set out in the written service agreement before work begins. To ask about information we hold, write to hello@lintel.legal.

9. Breaches

If a breach of security safeguards involving personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report it and notify affected parties as PIPEDA requires. For file information, we will notify the customer so that it can meet its own obligations.

10. Access and correction

You may ask us for access to personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Send the request to hello@lintel.legal. We may need to confirm your identity first. If your request concerns information in a customer's file, please send it to the law firm that holds the file. We will coordinate with that firm, subject to our duties under applicable law, and we will respond as the law requires.

11. Children

Our website and Services are for lawyers and law firms. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children for our own purposes.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
